OREANDA-NEWS  The annual inflation rate in the eurozone in May 2026 was 3.2 percent. This was reported by Eurostat.

In April, it was three percent, and in May 2025, it was 1.9 percent.

As for the European Union, inflation reached 3.3 percent last month, compared with 3.2 percent in April. In the last month of last spring, it was 2.2 percent.

The lowest annual inflation was recorded in Sweden (1.1 percent), Denmark and the Czech Republic (1.8 percent each). The highest values were shown by Romania (9.7 percent), Bulgaria (6.3 percent) and Lithuania (5.1 percent).

In general, compared with April 2026, annual inflation decreased in eleven Member States and increased in sixteen.

The day before, Philip Leyen, chief economist of the European Central Bank, warned that inflation in the eurozone would exceed three percent. The reason for this state of affairs is the situation in the Middle East.
