The EU could not extend sanctions against Russia for one reason

OREANDA-NEWS Slovakia has refused to extend the package of individual European Union (EU) sanctions against Russia. This is reported by Politico magazine, citing sources.
"The Slovak government has rejected a proposal to extend for 12 months the package of individual EU sanctions against Russia (...). These measures, which have been repeatedly extended for six months, expire on September 15. The EU hoped to achieve a longer extension and avoid renegotiation, but any amendments require the unanimous support of all 27 member states," the newspaper reports.
According to unnamed European diplomats, the ambassadors of the bloc countries have not yet been able to find a common language on this proposal.
Earlier, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was outraged that the European Union had approved a loan of 90 billion euros to Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev still complains that it has no money. He stressed that Bratislava would not participate in such financing schemes.
