OREANDA-NEWS The Pentagon has classified the production technology of the full-cycle Patriot anti-aircraft missile system. RIA Novosti journalists found out about this after studying the documents of the military department.
We are talking about the design, release of components, software and test results. It clarifies that critical technologies are primarily related to design, as well as data on the development and production of individual components.
In the notification of the US Department of Defense about the proposed sale of Patriot complexes to Bahrain in 2019, it was noted that the list of relevant elements is classified as "confidential".
The secrecy regime applies not only to missiles as such, but also to key technological data of the system: applied developments, performance indicators, test results, as well as the device of the homing heads. Some materials are classified at a higher level of secrecy, up to the "secret" label.
The Pentagon believes that if such information turns out to be in the possession of a technically advanced rival, it may allow him to create ways to neutralize Patriot or develop a complex with similar characteristics.
Earlier, military analyst Jennifer Kavanagh said that Ukraine would not be able to produce missiles for the Patriot air defense system until the end of hostilities. According to her assessment, in order for Kiev to be able to produce missiles, large investments will be required, but now companies are unlikely to agree to this because of the threat of strikes.
