OREANDA-NEWS The Orion spacecraft of the Artemis II mission has successfully maneuvered into a trajectory to the Moon, NASA CEO Jared Isaacman announced on the social network X.
The nominal engine operating mode for entering the translunar section has been completed. "The Artemis II crew is officially on its way to the moon," Isaakman added.
On the night of April 2, a single-use superheavy Space Launch System (SLS) rocket with the Orion spacecraft, carrying NASA astronauts Reed Wiseman, Victor Glover, Kristina Koch and the Canadian Space Agency Jeremy Hansen, launched from Pad 39A of the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. As part of Artemis II, a spacecraft carrying humans will leave Earth orbit for the first time in more than 50 years and make a relatively close flyby of the Moon.
