OREANDA-NEWS  The sale and import of vapes into the Russian Federation should be banned, but their production should be retained for further sale to other countries, Sergei Leonov, head of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, told RIA Novosti.

In January, the head of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy, Artyom Metelev, announced that a bill had been prepared to ban the production and import of nicotine-containing devices, nicotine-containing raw materials and nicotine-containing products into Russia.

"It seems to me that it would be right to ban the sale and import of vapes, production is not necessary. Let them produce and sell to other countries," Leonov said.

The parliamentarian recalled the experience of China, where vapes are practically not smoked, but the country is the largest producer of these products in the world.

Earlier, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that the State Duma would support and consider as a matter of priority a bill on a complete ban on the sale of vapes in Russia, if such an initiative comes from the government of the Russian Federation. He noted that all State Duma factions support the initiative to completely ban vaping.
