OREANDA-NEWS   The pro-government newspaper "Turkiye", citing diplomatic sources, reports that Ankara reacted sharply to the US and EU pointing to Turkey and Iran as a safe haven for Afghans, warning that Turkey "has exhausted its quota" and will no longer be able to bear this burden by oneself.

At the same time, the EU should also be ready for a possible migration wave from Afghanistan as Ankara said.

Sources recalled that there is no such agreement between Turkey and the EU about Afghan refugees as about the Syrians, so Turkey will not interfere with Afghans wishing to move to Europe and will open the doors.

The international relations expert, professor, Dr. Bilal Sambur notes that Turkey's readiness to ensure the security of the Kabul airport prompted Afghans to head to Turkey, and not to places like Pakistan, India. But the US and the EU must understand that there is a social, political, cultural and economic cost for Afghan refugees in Turkey.
