OREANDA-NEWS  If Belgium confiscates Russia's frozen assets, it will have systemic consequences. The Prime Minister of this European country, Bart de Wever, warned about this, as quoted by TASS.

According to de Wever, it would be smart not to touch this money yet, although there are governments that "dream of the possibility of confiscation." However, from a legal point of view, this is not easy. In addition, if the EU appropriates sovereign funds, other countries will start withdrawing their money from the European Union. The Belgian Prime Minister believes that the issue of confiscation should not be discussed, at least until negotiations on a peace agreement begin.

According to the Belgian depository, in the first quarter of 2025, Euroclear's revenues from frozen Russian assets fell by 7.5 percent year-on-year.
