OREANDA-NEWS  This week, the German authorities will approve the purchase of military equipment worth 7.5 billion euros ($ 8.7 billion) as part of a strategy to modernize the armed forces. This is reported by Bloomberg.

According to a government document obtained by Bloomberg, the package includes an order for 3.5 billion euros for 274 armored reconnaissance vehicles from General Dynamics. The start of deliveries is scheduled for 2028. These purchases are part of Berlin's broader efforts to modernize its armed forces after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine upended perceptions of European security.

In addition, the federal government is going to purchase 150 Schakal infantry fighting vehicles, as well as Evolved Sea Sparrow missiles for 386 million euros from the American manufacturer Raytheon.

In early August, the German government became alarmed due to delays in the supply of resources from China, as there was a risk that many defense companies could stop production.
