OREANDA-NEWS  The European Commission (EC) announced on Monday that it would allocate 2.3 billion euros to Ukraine "to support the country's finances and public administration."

"This is the sixth regular payment under the Ukrainian Fund, a key EU instrument to support recovery, reform and the path to EU membership. It helps to stabilize the state budget, allowing Kiev to advance ambitious structural reforms necessary for European integration," the EC said in a statement.

"Through the Ukrainian Foundation, the EU promotes reforms that bring Ukraine closer to the EU, while supporting critical needs, including energy security during the winter period. The Ukrainian Fund will remain an important tool for maintaining the pace of reforms and the European future of Ukraine," said Marta Kos, Member of the European Commission for EU Enlargement.

The published document recalls that with this sixth tranche, the EU has allocated 26.8 billion euros under the plan for Ukraine since March 2024, which is almost 70% of the funds available under the first component of the Ukrainian Fund.

The payment follows the successful implementation of reforms in strategically important areas, including public finance management, the judicial system, financial markets, decentralization and regional policy, the agri-food sector, management of critical raw materials, as well as the green transition and environmental protection.

According to the EC, these reforms demonstrate "how the Ukrainian Foundation directly contributes to progress on the ground, even in wartime conditions."
