OREANDA-NEWS  The Ministry of Finance of Russia has prepared a bill providing for the introduction of negotiable fines for the leakage of users' personal data, they can amount to up to three percent of the company's turnover if it does not ensure data security, TASS clarifies with reference to the head of the department Maksuta Shadaeva.

Shadaev noted that there is a difficult situation now. He pointed out that the agency has prepared a draft law according to which companies that do not ensure the safety of these companies may face a fine of up to three percent of turnover.

According to him, the Ministry of Finance proposes to recognize as a mitigating circumstance the company's preliminary certification and certification of the entire infrastructure in accordance with security requirements, proving that investments in protective equipment have been made. "Of course, up to three percent of the turnover penalty of companies will force them to invest significantly more funds in their security," Shadaev said.

At the beginning of December, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to think about introducing revolving fines to companies for leaking information. According to him, responsibility for violations in the field of data protection should be tightened.
