OREANDA-NEWS. On December 17, the Moscow Magistrate Court found American technology company Google guilty of a repeated offense related to insufficient filtering of search results from content banned in the Russian Federation.

“By the ruling of the magistrate… of the Tagansky District of Moscow, Google LLC was found guilty of committing an administrative offense. Google LLC was sentenced to an administrative fine of 3 million roubles [About 40 thousand US dollars. – Ed.],” court press secretary Zulfiya Gurinchuk told Interfax news agency. The company was found guilty under Part 2.1 of Article 13.40 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation over repeated committing of an administrative offense due to default by a search engine operator. The punishment under this article provided for a fine of 1.5 to 5 million roubles.

The press service of Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media of Russia reported that they will continue to monitor the fulfillment by search engines of the requirements for filtering content prohibited in the country.
