OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2008. On June 24, political consultations between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Titov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Kremer took place in Warsaw. Titov also met with Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radoslaw Sikorski.

During the conversations, the importance of shaping a positive agenda and a favorable atmosphere for bilateral relations was noted. An exchange of views took place on an extensive range of practical issues in Russian-Polish cooperation, particularly in the light of the major bilateral events slated for this upcoming autumn, including a meeting of the Committee on Russian-Polish cooperation strategy now resuming its work, a session of the Russian-Polish Intergovernmental Commission and the holding of a Russian-Polish Public Forum. Prospects for widening the juridical base of bilateral relations were discussed.

European security and cooperation problems, issues in Russian-EU relations and themes relating to regional Baltic interaction were discussed. The Russian position on the destabilizing impact of plans to deploy elements of the US missile defense system in Poland was reaffirmed.
