OREANDA-NEWS. April 09, 2010. “The events taking place in Kyrgyzstan are, first of all, the internal affair of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the statement reads.

“Uzbekistan, as a close country, having centuries-old history- and time-proven ties of friendship and cooperation with the people of Kyrgyzstan, is interested in the establishment of peace and stability in the neighboring Kyrgyzstan, achievement of accord and solution of all emerging problems and controversies in a peaceful way.

“The resistance that has led to human casualties and losses, further destabilization of the situation in Kyrgyzstan may lead to an even greater worsening of the socioeconomic situation in the country and complicate the manageability of the state and its structures in places, as well as created problems on the border with neighboring countries.

“The Uzbek side, in order to prevent destabilizing influence of these events on the neighboring regions of our republic, had to take temporary measures to strengthen the border regime on the border of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

“We in Uzbekistan believe in wisdom and prudence of the Kyrgyz people, their ability to find and mobilize efforts to revive peace and social stability in the country,” the Foreign Ministry said.
