Dmitry Medvedev and Silvio Berlusconi gave a high assessment to the events launching the Year of Russian Culture in Italy and Year of Italian Culture in Russia.

Besides, the President of Russia and Prime Minister of Italy oversaw the signing of several bilateral documents, including an intergovernmental agreement on the aerial transit of weapons, ammunition, military equipment, defence materials, and personnel via Russian Federation territory in connection with participation by Armed Forces of Italy in efforts to maintain security, stabilise and rehabilitate Afghanistan; an assignment agreement on participation in product sharing contract among Eni North Africa BV, Eni International BV, Gazprom Neft North Africa BV and Gazprom Neft; and a memorandum of understanding between Vnesheconombank of Russia and Bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti SpA of Italy.
