OREANDA-NEWS Deputies of the lower house of parliament adopted a bill in the second reading, which is aimed at stimulating the development of viticulture and winemaking in Russia.

According to the chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the main goal of this law is to support domestic growers and winemakers, to increase their competitiveness. The bill expands the state support of viticulture and winemaking.

The draft law provides for the introduction of basic concepts of viticulture and winemaking, defines the principles for the direction of state incentives for these industries, the powers of the state authorities of the Russian Federation and the state authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation.

The bill also prescribes the functions of self-regulatory organizations, establishes licensing requirements for producers of wine products and requirements for maintaining a register of grape plantations, vineyard inventory and declaring grapes harvested for the production of wine products, as well as the production of wine products protected by geographical indication and protected appellation of origin.

The initiative was developed by a group of deputies of the faction "United Russia".
