OREANDA-NEWS. As the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said, Russia and the United States should take into account each other's concerns when discussing START-3, because, for example, a number of Washington's previous conditions absolutely do not suit Moscow.

Earlier, the White House announced that it intends to offer Russia to extend START III, which expires on February 5, for a five-year period.

Dmitry Peskov emphasized that "the very fact of having political will to extend the document" Russia can welcome, but does not yet know "what exactly the American side is ready to talk about."

According to the press secretary of the Russian president, "so far, certain conditions have been put forward for the extension, a number of these conditions absolutely did not suit us, so let's first get acquainted with what the Americans are proposing, and then we will give some comments."

The Russian-American START-3 agreement, which entered into force on February 5, 2011, provides for the reduction of the nuclear arsenals of the two countries in such a way that seven years after signing and in the future, the total number of weapons does not exceed 700 intercontinental ballistic missiles, ballistic missiles on submarines and heavy bombers, as well as 1,550 warheads and 800 deployed and non-deployed launchers. Today it is the only arms limitation treaty in force between Russia and the United States.
