OREANDA-NEWS  AI startup OpenAI has terminated an agreement with Microsoft, under which the Windows developer exclusively sold artificial intelligence models. This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to a joint statement by the two companies.

Now OpenAI, which is preparing to enter the stock exchange, will be able to conclude deals with other companies in this field, but will lose payments from Microsoft, which the world's largest software manufacturer made at the expense of a share of the proceeds from the sale of ChatGPT creator's products.

The statement says the new move will provide companies with "flexibility to pursue new opportunities," and Microsoft remains OpenAI's "primary cloud provider."

A lawsuit is also expected this week against Elon Musk, who left OpenAI in 2018 and claims that Microsoft's investments contributed to the company's abandonment of the AI startup mission, against which, according to the billionaire, its leadership "enriched itself by abandoning altruistic principles." OpenAI itself calls the claims unfair, emphasizing that the restructuring aimed at making a profit was carried out there for the sake of creating artificial general intelligence (AGI) and the benefit of all mankind.
