OREANDA-NEWS  The head of SpaceX Corporation, Elon Musk, called the successful operation of Starship rockets the main goal for the coming years. Musk stated this in an interview with ArsTechnica.

Answering a question about the main tasks of SpaceX for the next decade, the entrepreneur stressed the paramount importance of the stable launch of the Starship project. According to the billionaire, the creation of the first fully reusable orbital launch vehicle is only a matter of time. Musk stressed that such a rocket would become the "holy Grail of rocket science."

Musk was interviewed a few hours before the ninth test flight of Starship, which ended in failure due to uncontrolled rotation of the device. At the same time, Elon Musk stressed that the main purpose of test launches is to collect data and verify experimental rocket components.

The billionaire also said that the new generation of Raptor 3 engines will be ready by the end of the year. They will get a completely redesigned back of the accelerator and get rid of the heat shield.

In conclusion, Musk admitted that ten years ago he believed that at least one of the projects — Starship or Starlink — would fail. "Any outcome for us that does not lead to death will be a good outcome," the entrepreneur summed up.

In early May, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorized SpaceX to conduct up to 25 Starship launches per year.
