OREANDA-NEWS OpenAI is forced to release new versions of AI models without significant improvements due to pressure from competitors in the market, including China's Deepseek and Alibaba, which introduced open source neural networks, MTS AI told RIA Novosti.
Earlier on Thursday, OpenAI said it was launching GPT-4.5, the latest and largest AI language model with a "deeper understanding of the world." It is noted that by scaling up unsupervised learning, GPT-4.5 improves the ability to recognize patterns, establish connections, and generate creative ideas without reasoning. For now, it will be available as a preliminary research version for ChatGPT Pro users.
"OpenAI is forced to release new versions of large language models that do not carry significant improvements, amid pressure from competitors, including Chinese companies Deepseek and Alibaba with open models," the company said.
The company's products also remain more expensive than those presented on the market by other developers - Deepseek, Alibaba, Anthropic, Google, Mistral. Russian Russian language and a number of other languages, including those from various CIS countries, are not enough attention from OpenAI, which opens up new opportunities for Russian companies that create their own models or adapt foreign models to meet specific business needs in Russian," MTS AI added.
The company believes that competition in the artificial intelligence market is becoming increasingly unpredictable: for example, multibillion-dollar investments in a product may not be justified due to the fact that open AI models blur the boundaries between large corporations and startups. "Previously, OpenAI was perceived as the undisputed technology leader, but now other companies – in China, Europe and the United States - are actively closing the gap," MTS AI said.
The ChatGPT chatbot gained popularity after launching in late November 2022, gaining its first million users in less than a week. One of the co-founders of OpenAI in 2015 was American billionaire Elon Musk, who later severed ties with the startup.
