OREANDA-NEWS  The head of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), Hideaki Nishino, confirmed the development of the PlayStation 6. IGN drew attention to this.

Nishino stated this while answering questions from investors — his remarks were published on the SIE corporate website. "We are committed to exploring a new and improved way for players to interact with our content and our services," said the head of the corporation when asked about the development of the PS6.

At the same time, Nishino noted that at the moment the company cannot share the technical specifications and release dates of new consoles. According to IGN journalists, the confirmation of PlayStation 6 development should not be a surprise. The article says that Sony started creating the PS5 immediately after the PS4 was released in 2013. Thus, SIE has been developing a new generation of consoles for five years.

Hideaki Nishino also explained why classic game consoles are still needed, despite the growing popularity of cloud gaming. According to him, SIE has been involved in cloud gaming for 11 years, but believes that the vast majority of players are used to playing on consoles locally. Nishino also complained that cloud gaming requires an excellent Internet connection, which cannot always be ensured - "the stability of the network is not under our control."

At the end of June, experts from the Digital Foundry project called the video game Death Stranding 2 an outstanding technical breakthrough. "More variety, more action, but Death Stranding 2 still offers that lonely serenity that defines the game," the experts concluded.
