OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian Emergencies Ministry's research exercise will be held in 10 Arctic regions at the end of January, the ministry's press service said on Wednesday.

"From January 29 to January 31, 2025, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations will hold large-scale interdepartmental experimental research exercises. The event will be held on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin," the message says.

The event will start in Arkhangelsk. It is expected that 25 federal executive authorities, two state corporations and 17 large companies will take part.

"In three days, in 10 Arctic regions and in the waters of the Northern Sea Route, the forces and means of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation will work out 19 introductory exercises. In total, about 2.2 thousand people and about 460 pieces of equipment will be involved. Experts in the field of fire protection, civil defense and protection of the population of 25 foreign countries will observe the course of the exercises," the press service quoted Alexander Kurenkov, head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as saying.

In particular, the introductory tasks will include: an accident on a ship during passage along the Northern Sea Route, an avalanche at a ski resort, an accident on a railway, a fire in a high-rise building at extremely low temperatures, search and rescue operations in case of a failure under the ice of transport, and the elimination of burning gas fountains. Gorenje is a part of the project.

The report notes that the exercise will involve domestic developments designed for use in northern latitudes.

"As part of the business program, 22 events are planned in full-time and part-time format. Bilateral meetings are planned with foreign colleagues," the ministry added.
