OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 May 2008 was announced, that field investigations in course of ESPO ecological monitoring will be started this year on the territory of Yakutia. Experts from the local scientific institutions will conduct operations in Lensk’s and Olekminsk’s regions at the first stage, reported by Information agency SakhaNews.

The republican ministry for nature protection in association with the ministry of science and professional education has invoked the complex ecological monitoring of the natural ecosystem condition in location of Yukutsk’s parts of the Eastern oil pipeline. The project with the budget of 5200 rubles is scheduled for three years. The basic performer is the Institution of the applied ecology of the North.

Assessment of the Yakutia’s pipeline ecological impact is divided into three stages. The Institution of the applied ecology of the North will execute its first scientific researches this year. According to Vasily Ivanov, project monitor and deputy director of the scientific study institution the pipeline route is divided into three conventional sectors. Field investigations at the first stage covering Lensk’s and Olekminsk’s regions of Yakutia are scheduled on coming July-August and will be processed in association with the Cryopedology Institution. The second sector lies along Nagorny-Aldan line and the third one is located between Olekminsk and Aldan.

 “Transneft” in parallel with Yakutsk’s specialists keeps strict watch of possible environmental changes in ESPO area. The technical monitoring executed by the company provides for oil pipeline condition and the area along the route observation. Transport of different types is used in course of process implementation – cross country capability off-road transport and helicopters that allow supervising even in conditions of the undeveloped ground environment of the frontier areas
