OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2008. The meeting will take place in Krasnokamensk, Chita region, Russia. Kiriyenkio and Bayar are planning to discuss the prospects of Russian-Mongolian cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

Krasnokamensk hosts Russia’s biggest uranium mining company, Priargun Mining Chemical Combine. During their visit Kiriyenko and Bayar will go 700 meters down into a mine to see how the miners extract uranium ore.

Bayar visited Russia in April. During his visit Rosatom and the Industry and Trade Ministry of Mongolia signed a joint plan of action in the field of uranium mining, envisaging a number of joint projects for prospecting, mining and processing uranium and other natural resources.

As far as Rosatom knows, Mongolia has over 100,000 tons of uranium.

Earlier Kiriyenko said that Russia is also ready to carry out the feasibility study of the project to build small- and medium-capacity nuclear power plants in Mongolia.
