OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2008. The satellite city of Leningrad NPP and Leningrad NPP-2, Sosnovy Bor is not an exception. The acting deputy director for management of the project of the Directorate for the Construction of Leningrad NPP-2 Grigory Viktorov has told us about the cooperation between the directorate and the administration of Sosnovy Bor:

— We are closely cooperating to meet the requirements of the contract for the construction of the 1st and 2nd units of Leningrad NPP-2. Particularly, we are drafting a new concept of water supply of Sosnovy Bor in order to meet the growing water demand of the expanding city. The authorities of Sosnovy Bor have examined the draft and have recommended certain improvements. Now, we are working on them.

We also have to move a section of St.Petersburg-Veinmarn railroad and A-121 motor road beyond the buffer zone of the nuclear power plant.

Recently, we met with representatives of the general contractor of the project St.Petersburg Atomenergoproekt, the administration of Sosnovy Bor and the Committee on Roads and Transportation of Leningrad region and approved a new map of regional motor roads. Leningrad NPP-2 has allocated money for restoration of the roads.

— What are you doing to prepare for the construction of the 3rd and 4th units of Leningrad NPP-2?

— Last year we approved a declaration of intention to finance the construction of the 3rd and 4th units of Leningrad NPP-2. We have already started drafting an act for allocation of land for the units. We have already chosen the site. It is owned by the administration of Sosnovy Bor. Presently, we are concluding short-term contracts for renting land plots for feasibility study.

According to the schedule, the land allocation act should be approved in 2008. After that we will have to meet all of its requirements.

— When are you planning to hold public hearings of the project of the 3rd and 4th units?

— In 2008, before the approval of the land allocation act.

— I far as I know you are closely cooperating with the authorities of Sosnovy Bor on the building of houses for the constructors and future employees of Leningrad NPP-2, aren’t you?

— Yes, we are. We are jointly drafting a plan of action for providing employees of the plant and residents of the city with houses.

— What influence will the LNPP-2 project have on the social infrastructure of the city?

— The government resolution “On Measures for Social Protection of People Living Near Nuclear Power Plants,” our expenditure item envisages expenses on the construction of social facilities: children’s recreation camps, kindergartens, schools.

Presently, the directorate and the administration of Sosnovy Bor are discussing the list of priorities.
