OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2010. In the first ten days of January 2010, the amount of coal hauled by Freight One from the stations of the Krasnoyarsk Railway increased by 5.2% compared to the same period of the previous month. The increase is largely due to a strong Siberian high-pressure system that formed in the region, which, according to the Russian Weather Service, pushed down the average daily temperature to 16—18 degrees below normal.

As requests from regional energy providers increased, Freight One increased coal haulage from mines in Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia to 120,000 tons during this period. In the direction of the Krasnoyarsk GRES-2 power station providing heat and power generation east of Krasnoyarsk Territory, the number of gondolas used on a daily basis was doubled to 360 cars. In order to expedite the handover of cars for loading and unloading, Freight One and the Krasnoyarsk Railway reduced from 2 to 1.8 days the turnover of cars running from Pereyaslovsk Coal Mine to GRES-2. Constant monitoring of the loading of coal to be hauled to the thermal power stations of Irkutskenergo (the Ust-Ilim and Novoirkutsk CHP plants) and the Gusinoozerskaya GRES power station in the Republic of Buryatia has been organized.

In the last 20 days of January, weather conditions having been equalized along with the needs of the regional power grid, Freight One’s coal haulage in the region was stabilized at the level of 10—12,000 tons daily. It should be noted that the increase in Freight One’s traffic occurred in the first half of January, which is usually a slow period.
