OREANDA-NEWS. July 30, 2010. Belarus’ industrial output went up 8.8% on the year in January-June to 72.609 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), an official with the National Statistics Committee told.

Engineering and metalworking companies’ output increased 6.4% on the year in the period to 13.84 trillion rubles. The output of fuel companies shrank 26.2% on the year in January-June to 11.305 trillion rubles.

Chemical and petrochemical companies’ production increased 21.8% to 7.954 trillion rubles, and ferrous metallurgy companies’ output increased 8.6% to 2.704 trillion rubles. Electrical power companies’ output increased 11.5% on the year to 5.276 trillion rubles.

Construction materials companies’ output increased 8.2% on the year to 2.771 trillion rubles, and woodworking and pulp-and-paper companies’ production amounted to 1.943 trillion rubles, up 12.3% on the year in January-June.

Belarus’ light industry output was up 11.5% to 2.353 trillion rubles, and food industry’s output went up 9.4% to 11.305 trillion rubles.

Return on sales amounted to 10.1% in January-May 2010, up from 9.1% in January-May 2009.

There were 343 loss-making manufacturers in the period, 17% of the total number, with net losses estimated at 387.008 billion rubles, down 29.5%.

Net profit of Belarus’ industrial companies rose 90% on the year to 2.826 trillion rubles in effective prices in January-May 2010 with producer price index (PPI) rising 9.6% in the period.
