OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2011. In 2010, Freight One hauled more than 16 million tons of various freight in its own rail cars along the Northern Railway. This is 37% more than in 2009.

From January to December 2010, more than 254 thousand railcars of various types were loaded with freight. Flatcar and box car traffic saw significant increases. Thanks to significant contract work, 2010 saw the loading and shipment of 1,500 flatcars (in 2009, this figure was only 500 flatcars) and 5,600 box cars (in 2009, this figure was only 2,600 box cars).

Coal accounted for around 34% of all freight hauled last year. In 2010, Freight One’s Yaroslavl branch hauled 5.4 million tons of coal from VorkutUgl for the needs of the metallurgical, coke-chemical and energy industries. Freight one also shipped 3.8 million tons of ferrous metals from Severstal, which made up 24% of all freight shipped by the Yaroslavl branch in 2010.

In 2010, Freight One’s share of freight traffic along the Northern Railway was 27%, which is 29% more than in 2009.

"Freight One’s Yaroslavl branch finished 2010 with excellent results", — said the director of the branch, Yuri Shifrin. Thanks to an increase in the branch’s client base and well built relationships with consigners, freight volume is increasing. The foundation for this growth has been the steady supply of the railcar fleet for freight shipments, which are important for individual Russian regions and for the country’s economy as a whole. The branch’s plans include expanding its geography of operations from the Yamal peninsula in the Far North to foreign countries.
