Ukraine: Early Grain Crops Are Ripening Ahead of 2 Weeks
OREANDA-NEWS. June 21, 2012. This year, ripening of early grain crops, due to unfavorable weather conditions, is expected before the usual time limits. Currently in all regions the plant growth is ahead for 10-14 days. This was announced by Mykola Bezuglyi, acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine during a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers.
"In the southern region, the massive harvesting is expected at the beginning of the third decade of June. In northern and western regions, the condition of early crops of cereals is mostly good, so in many areas it's expected grain yield at the level of last year," acting Minister of Agrarian Policy informed.
Mykola Bezuglyi also noted the condition of sowings of maize, sunflower, buckwheat, millet and sugar beet is mostly satisfactory in all regions.
