OREANDA-NEWS. December 27, 2012. Belarus’ Grodno-based Neman tobacco factory is planning to produce 20.1 billion cigarettes under its own trademarks within the framework of the 26 billion production quota in 2013, a Neman administration representative told reporters.

The remaining 5.9 billion cigarettes will be made by international tobacco companies under production contracts.

As former reported, Neman’s production quota for 2013 will be increased 2% up to 26 billion cigarettes.

The factory increased cigarette output 9.2% on the year in January-November 2012 to 24.4 billion units.

Production under contracts with British-American Tobacco Trading Company reached 4.6 billion units, up 11.2% on the year.

Production under contracts with Japan Tobacco International amounted to 480 million units, down 13.5%; Tobacco International Enterprises Ltd – 0.08 billion units, down 72.6%.

For the home market the company produced 24.3 billion units, up 12.9%.

Cigarette exports totalled 1 billion units (up 4.6 times) to the tune of USD 9.3 million (up 4.4 times).

The company exports cigarettes to Lithuania, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and the Middle East.

Neman was founded in 1861 and transformed into a joint-stock company with all shares controlled by the state in December 2007. Neman has its cigarette production quota for 2012 raised to 25.5 billion units.
