OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2013. Kirovsky Zavod implemented the pilot project on installation of the energy-conserving lighting system at the place of production. In the section of Metallurgic Plant Petrostal (a subsidiary of JSC Kirovsky Zavod) new lighting equipment, which will reduce the energy consumption in 5 times and pay off during 2 years, has been launched.

Within the frames of the project the lighting system of the oxygen workshop of Petrostal Plant was fully renovated. Instead of worn-out and outdated gas-discharge lamps the energy conservation equipment and modern light-emitting-diode lamps were installed in the production areas. A new system will allow reducing the workshop’s energy consumption for the lighting needs in 5 times. Moreover, taking into account that the lamp’s service life is at least 5 years then Kirovsky Zavod will also economize on servicing of luminous elements which will not require replacement, preventive maintenance or repair for an extended period of time.

The development cost of the new lighting system of the production section of Petrostal Plant amounted to about 2 million rubles. The payback period of the project is less than 2 years. On the basis of the acquired experience and operation results of energy-conserving lamps, it is planned to continue equipping of the production areas with modern energy-efficient lighting systems on a scale of whole Kirovsky Zavod.

Let’s remind that earlier Kirovsky Zavod had implemented local installation of energy-conserving lamps in the production areas. Thus, in September, 2012 at the main tractor-assembling line of St Petersburg Tractor Plant (a subsidiary of JSC Kirovsky Zavod) the gas-discharge lamps were replaced with light-emitting diodes. However, renovation of the lighting system of Petrostal Plant is distinguished with the complex approach including pre-project survey of the site with calculations made in specialized program Dialuxe, project elaboration, assembling of a new lighting system with control boards and cable lines as well as commissioning works. Selection of the lighting equipment for the workshop was made with due account of the premises’ characteristics, technical requirements, standards and regulations that provided the maximum efficiency of the equipment operation at minimum level of energy consumption possible.
