OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2013. After reducing of the gas price and receiving of a loan from the Russian Federation, Ukraine has a stronger position for holding the negotiations with the IMF.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov stated on air of the Shuster Live program on the INTER channel.

“We have no need now to take money from the IMF on their conditions. We have acquired a strong position for holding the negotiations with them,” Mykola Azarov said and emphasized at this that Ukraine was interested in continuing the negotiations with the IMF along a new program of cooperation with the fund.

The Prime Minister stressed that “under such difficult situation Ukraine occurred in, our country was interested in obtaining a loan from the world financial institutions, such as the IMF, however conditions of receiving the loan were not affordable for us”.

At this, the Prime Minister emphasized that his Government would never agree to significant raise of gas tariffs for the population, eliminating of state support of agricultural producers and hryvnya devaluation. In this financial-economic situation the Government was forced to search money on all foreign markets without exception.

“We were interested to obtain the financial assistance from the EU, the IMF, Russia and third countries,” Mykola Azarov emphasized.
