OREANDA-NEWS. The first component parts of the machinery destined for use in the Carajas S11D Iron Project have begun to arrive at their final destination. Transportation of the components from the Southeast Para construction site to the final destination where they will be assembled began at the end of February. The components vary in size from small items to structures weighing as much as 70 tons.

By the end of October it is expected that more than 16,000 tons of material will have been transported along the 45-kilometre route to the plant site. To conclude this operation safely and on-time, the S11D Project has a team exclusively tasked with the transport operation, as well as all the necessary cranes, forklift trucks, trucks and support personnel.

In all, 14 items of machinery ranging from 420 tons to more than 1,300 tons will be assembled in the S11D coordination yard and product stockyard. Assembly is expected to begin in November.
