OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2014. Tier-one PV module manufacturer, Hanwha Q CELLS, has said its review of a petition filed by Kyocera over a claimed busbar patent infringement has concluded that the lawsuit does not affect any of its products.

The company said a thorough review of the petition meant that customers would therefore not be impacted by Kyocera’s actions. Q CELLS also claimed that the three-busbar technology had been in the public domain via research papers since the 1990s, therefore prior to Kyocera obtaining its 4953562 patent in Japan in March 2012.

"I can assure our customers that no Q CELLS product is affected by this case. Hanwha Q CELLS will remain THE reliable partner for innovative and high quality PV products and solutions "Engineered in Germany" - in Japan and beyond," noted Charles Kim, CEO at Hanwha Q CELLS.

Kyocera had previously said that it was in negotiations with other unidentified parties regarding the patent. The three-busbar cell design is widely used in the PV industry.
