OREANDA-NEWS. GE (NYSE: GE) and Home Wizards are pairing up for a culinary contest that features three up-and-coming L.A. chefs. The chefs, who represent three different types of cuisine, will use a suite of GE Café™ appliances to create signature dishes, with the hopes of winning cash prizes up to USD 1,000, plus their own GE Advantium® oven.

Each of the three chefs will be showcased in the Chefs at Home Culinary Challenge video series, with four videos featuring the chefs and two featuring the GE appliances the chefs used to create their culinary masterpieces. Viewers can watch the chefs, alongside Home Wizards personalities Cindy Dole and Eric Stromer, prepare their meals in Cindy's personal kitchen and learn tips for using those same appliances in their own homes. The videos will air in August 2014.

“These remarkable chefs are using appliances that anyone can own, proving that good food doesn't require a restaurant kitchen,” said Matt Sandercock, program manager, consumer digitization for GE Appliances. “Sometimes the key to a good recipe is knowing exactly the capabilities and strengths of your cooking appliances.”

Cindy and Eric will help the chefs prepare their meals using Cindy's own GE Café appliances, and then judge the creations based on taste, presentation and creativity.

For what food are you in the mood? American, Asian fusion or Italian?

In order to show viewers a variety of cooking options and styles, the chosen chefs come from three different culinary backgrounds: American, Asian fusion and Italian.

American - Chef Lalo Sanchez: Lalo developed his skills alongside Chef Hugo Molina, who was named one of the top 25 chefs in the world. He now owns the motto “not chef inspired but ingredient driven” at Crossings in South Pasadena where he is the executive chef.

Asian Fusion - Chef Pierre Lucente: To Pierre, food is art. In high school, he sold his pastries and boxed lunches to classmates and teachers although he didn't begin his culinary career until 2009. He specializes in Asian fusion and Italian-Asian fusion. Sample Pierre's art at Modern Eats in Silverlake.

Italian - Chef Roxanne Candelaria: Roxanne has always been interested in good food, following the example of her grandmother, who used to cook for movie executives. Roxanne graduated from culinary school in 2005 and has been employed at some of the finest restaurants in the country. Enjoy Roxanne's menu at Porta Via Italian Foods in Pasadena.

The chefs will cook their meals using GE's restaurant-inspired Café Series, which includes details designed to help meals become masterpieces. With aesthetics and impressive power that mimic great restaurants, these appliances are a perfect fit for users who love to live in the kitchen.
