OREANDA-NEWS. The Tallinn University of Technology received 11,039 admission applications this year, which is nearly 11% more than last year. The largest number of applications was submitted for IT degree programmes.

TUT received 4581 applications for bachelor’s programmes, followed by 2672 applications for master’s programmes, 1629 for applied higher education, 437 for engineering studies and 140 for PhD programmes. The number of applications from foreign students is currently 1580, the admission of foreign students ends on 21 August. In total, the only technical university in Estonia will admit approximately 4,000 new students this year.

TUT admissions specialist Kirsti Naaber says that this year, the majority of the applications were submitted for IT degree programmes and the total number of admission applications is the largest of the last three years. “The list of TUT admitted master’s students will be published on 10 July, the list of admitted applied higher education students on 13 July and the list of admitted bachelor’s and engineering students on 17 July,” said Naaber. “The admitted students must confirm their admission into TUT in the SAIS information system within two working days. Otherwise, their place will be given to the next ranking candidate.”

The specific number of candidates and competition by programmes will be disclosed next week, when the conformity of all applications with the admission requirements has been verified. The final lists of admitted students will be published in SAIS on 19 August.

TUT will be admitting new students for a total of 104 programs. This includes 50 bachelor’s, engineering and applied higher education, 44 master’s and 10 PhD programmes. The current TUT admissions are open for three of the following study areas: technology, production and construction; natural and exact sciences; social sciences, business and law. The master’s studies also have a new programme – European architecture. For the first time in years, admissions are also open for the landscape architecture programme under the curriculum of the Tallinn College.

In the summer of 2014, nearly 10,000 admission applications were submitted to the Tallinn University of Technology. 5635 applications were submitted for the bachelor’s, engineering studies and applied higher education programmes, 2608 of them for master’s programmes and 118 for PhD programmes. Approximately 1000 admission applications were submitted by foreign students.

Founded in 1918, TUT is the only university of technology in Estonia, unique for its synergy between engineering, natural and exact sciences, social sciences and health sciences. TUT is responsible for ensuring the following generations of engineers and engineering scientists. TUT has over 13,000 students, approximately 700 educators and over 500 researchers.
