OREANDA-NEWSRussian President Vladimir Putin approved the proposal of the Government of Mongolia to build a transit gas pipeline to China through its territory, and Chinese President Xi Jinping promised to study this project. This was announced on Thursday at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) by the President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga.

“Last year, I proposed creating a mechanism for coordinating activities to create an energy supernetwork in Northeast Asia. Over the past year, the Mongolian side completed the study of this issue and carried out a series of activities within our region”, he said. "The Russian president also expressed support, and the Chinese president promised to study the proposal of Mongolia to build a gas pipeline from Russia to China through Mongolian territory", he said.

The implementation of a joint economic corridor with Russia and China will be able to give impetus to the development of Mongolian business, the President of Mongolia said. “Mongolia attaches great importance to combining infrastructure projects with Russia and China and increasing their effectiveness”, he said. “With the implementation of the program to create an economic corridor, we can take regional cooperation to a new level and give impetus to business development”.

Haltmaagiin Battulga also returned to his initiative to coordinate the activities of the three countries to create an energy supernet in Northeast Asia. According to him, in 2018, Mongolia completed the development of this project. The Mongolian leader at the same time noted the active participation of national state energy companies in the process of establishing infrastructure for the production, delivery and sale of electricity.
