OREANDA-NEWS  From January to November 2023, the total volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from Russia to Georgia increased by almost 32 percent compared to the same period in 2022 and reached the level of 51.3 thousand tons. This is reported by TASS with reference to statistical data from analysts of the Union of Importers of Petroleum Products of Georgia.

In the structure of Georgian LNG imports, the share of fuel from Russia amounted to a total of 99.6 percent, the organization said. In general, by the end of January-November, Georgia received 51.5 thousand tons of this type of fuel from abroad. In comparison with the same period in 2022, the indicator increased by 12.5 thousand tons, the Union of Importers of Petroleum Products of Georgia concluded.

Also, according to the organization, in the eleven months of 2023, Georgia increased imports of petroleum bitumen by 7.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022, to 113.1 thousand tons. Russia provided the largest volumes of supplies in this segment, with a share of 46.7 percent. Iraq took the second place in terms of exports of petroleum bitumen to Georgia (36.2 percent), and Turkey closed the top 3 (15.2 percent).

Georgia has been increasing imports of Russian LNG for several months. In the second half of June, the Union of Importers of Petroleum Products of the country reported an increase in supplies of this type of fuel from the Russian Federation by 29.5 percent in January-May. In the first five months of 2023, import volumes increased to 18.4 thousand tons. According to the results of this period, Russia retained its leadership among foreign suppliers, and its share in the Georgian market reached 99.7 percent.
