OREANDA-NEWS. Carrefour is once again launching its charity anti-waste campaign in France and Belgium, collecting satchels and redistributing them among the poorest families.

In France

Carrefour has been involved in this campaign to collect satchels for 5 years now, alongside the Relais cooperative. In 2015, 80,000 satchels were donated by customers, and more than 510,000 since the start of the campaign in 2012.

Starting on 28 June and continuing into the summer, families are invited to visit their nearest Carrefour or Carrefour Market and leave their old satchel or satchels. They must still be in usable condition and people can leave a maximum of 5. In exchange, customers will be given €10 vouchers that they can redeem when they spend €50 or more at the start of the new term. The vouchers are valid from 30 June to 6 September 2016 and may be redeemed when customers spend €50 or more on stationary, school leather goods and calculators.

The Relais Cooperative – a network of companies and businesses set up to help people suffering from social exclusion reintegrate into society – is helping to coordinate the campaign for Carrefour. Satchels donated as part of the campaign will be given out to families who need them.

In Belgium

For the 3rd year in a row, and in partnership with the social welfare company Les Petits Riens, Carrefour is collecting used satchels as part of its "Satchel Campaign".

An initiative being implemented in all Belgian hypermarkets from 22 June until 31 July 2016.
