OREANDA-NEWS By the end of 2023, the total volume of exports of Russian fish products increased by 12 percent compared to 2022 and reached the level of 2.2 million tons. This is reported by Interfax with reference to preliminary data from Rosrybolovstvo analysts.

The main share of exports (76 percent) came from frozen fish, the ministry said. In second place were the supplies of fish fillets and minced meat (nine percent). Another six percent of supplies came from flour and non—food pellets from aquatic biological resources, and five percent from crustaceans, shellfish and aquatic invertebrates.

Pollock has become the main export type of Russian fish. Herring, sardine, and crabs were also in demand among foreign buyers. China became the main market for Russian exporters — the Asian country accounted for a total of 1.21 million tons. The top three also included South Korea (617 thousand tons) and the Netherlands (138 thousand tons), concluded Rosrybolovstvo.

The growth of exports of Russian fish products to China has been observed for several years. Earlier, the trade representative in China, Alexey Dahnovsky, reported that by the end of 2022, the revenues of domestic exporters increased by 48.2 percent and reached $ 2.75 billion. Pollock ($750 million) also became a key product at that time.
