OREANDA-NEWS In connection with the sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union, Roscosmos was skeptical about the prospect of Russia's participation in the International Space Station (ISS) program after 2024, the company's press service told RBC.

"Now Roscosmos has permission from the government to operate the ISS only until 2024. And the question of extending the agreement in the current conditions causes us skepticism," Roscosmos noted.

"We hope that the State Department will soon stop the pressure on NASA and allow them to start a dialogue with Russia. If we do not come to an agreement, this will affect the international manned space program," the press service said in a statement.

The state corporation could not answer the question whether international space cooperation with the participation of Russia will continue.

"At the moment, it is not for us to answer this question. Our former partners will have to answer, with whom we have been building relationships for years, decades, giving them a shoulder in a difficult moment, as, for example, in the case of the United States, when their shuttles stopped flying, or with Europe, when American partners abandoned the ExoMars project," the corporation stressed.

Roscosmos noted that European partners have already damaged the scientific program of the Spektr-RG space observatory by disabling one of its two telescopes.

The state Corporation intends to assess the amount of damage and issue an invoice to the European side.
