OREANDA-NEWS  There is an acute shortage of truckers in Russia. This was stated in an interview with Vedomosti by Vadim Filatov, Deputy General Director of the transport and logistics company PEC.

According to the PEC estimates, Russian transport companies lack about 60,000 drivers, the deficit in the company itself is about 5 percent of the full-time number of heavy truck drivers.

Filatov said that there is a "catastrophic shortage" of truck drivers weighing more than 3.5 tons (category E) in the industry. According to the results of a consolidated survey of the largest companies in the industry, the deficit has increased from 15 to 21 percent in five years.

As Filatov explained, after the collapse of the USSR, the number of driving schools that train truck drivers decreased, the profession was excluded from the system of secondary special education, its prestige decreased. Young people are driving a truck less and less often because of working conditions, as the driver spends most of the month on the flight, away from family and loved ones.

The problem with the shortage of heavy truck drivers was confirmed to the publication by other large transport and logistics companies.

Earlier it was reported that there is currently a shortage of SMM specialists in the Russian market. This factor has led to an annual increase in the salaries of such workers by 24 percent, which is higher than the salaries of other in-demand specialists, including financiers, lawyers, doctors and economists.

In addition, the shortage of personnel has increased in the Russian film industry. In six months, the number of vacancies in the industry has increased by 24 percent. Most of all, the industry lacks film production specialists, installation specialists and make-up artists. The industry also needs actors.
