OREANDA-NEWS The American Noble Capital fund has filed a lawsuit against Russia for $ 225.8 billion for certain royal debts, according to the company's lawsuit.
"The Russian Federation, violating the doctrine of state succession, has refused and continues to refuse to fulfill certain sovereign debt obligations borrowed from its predecessor, the Russian Empire," the foundation says.
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. Federal District Court for the District of Columbia in June. The defendants are Russia, the National Welfare Fund, the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank. The last movement on it was in November, when the court decided to respond to the application no later than January 29, 2026.
Noble Capital calls itself the legal successor and owner of the bonds issued by the Russian Empire to investors in the United States more than a hundred years ago. On this basis, the fund demands to "fulfill its obligations." The company is also seeking that the court allow payments to be made on the claim at the expense of frozen Russian assets.
