OREANDA-NEWS  NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called on the countries of the alliance to increase the production of military products and assured that such initiatives would have a beneficial effect on the economic situation.

"In addition to defense investments, we must increase defense production. This means an increase in military supplies at reasonable prices," Rutte said on Monday at the London-based Chatham House think tank.

The NATO Secretary General said that the alliance needs millions of artillery shells.

According to Rutte, NATO stands for the introduction of modern technologies in defense production.

He stressed that the defense investments of the alliance countries, which need to be increased to 5% of GDP, will lead, among other things, to the improvement of civilian infrastructure, in particular, in the field of transport.

"We need civilian transport systems to support military mobility," the NATO Secretary General said.
