OREANDA-NEWS Salaries of civil servants in Russia need to be equalized in order to cope with the shortage of qualified managers. Boris Kopeikin, chief economist at the Stolypin Institute of Growth Economics, suggested doing so, as quoted by TASS.
According to the expert, the unification of salaries in the industry will facilitate staff rotation and attract highly qualified specialists to the regions.
"Given the shortage of personnel in all fields of activity and the need to reduce inequality between regions, it makes sense to consider the unification of salaries of civil servants across the country. This would facilitate the rotation of employees between regions and the attraction of qualified specialists to those regions where the personnel issue is most pronounced," Kopeikin explained.
If the salaries of officials are equalized, this will attract specialists to not the most economically prosperous regions. It will also reduce the gap in the quality of services provided between the largest agglomerations and the rest of the country.
A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that equalizes the salaries of governors and deputy prime ministers. The updated salaries of the governors will be paid from the federal treasury. The Government of the country will provide financing for these expenses, and payments will be made in the Office of the President of the Russian Federation.
