OREANDA-NEWS The volume of cash in circulation in Russia reached 19.7 trillion rubles last year, an increase of almost 1.5 times in five years, the regulator said.
"Since the beginning of 2021, the volume of cash in circulation has increased by 46.4% and reached 19.7 trillion rubles on January 1, 2026," says the article "Main directions of development of cash circulation for 2026-2030."
It is noted that over the past five years, geopolitical changes have had a noticeable impact on the country.
"There have been periodic spikes in demand for cash, especially in 2022. During the peak load days, the Bank of Russia issued as much cash into circulation as it usually does not issue in a whole year," the article says.
According to the regulator, the NDO system has successfully passed the strength test - maintaining its stability remains a priority for the Bank of Russia.
