OREANDA-NEWS  In the first half of 2025, pawnshops in Russia increased their loans to the public to 190 billion rubles. This was announced by the Bank of Russia.

It is noted that while last year the volume of loans increased due to higher gold prices, the number of loan agreements concluded increased in the first half of 2025. It turned out that the number of loans issued by customers in pawnshops in the first six months of 2025 increased by 16 percent compared to the same period in 2024 and reached 9.3 million contracts.

The growth was provided by both regular customers, who began to turn to pawnshops for money more often, and new debtors. According to the Central Bank, according to the results of the first half of 2025, there were on average two existing contracts per pawnshop borrower. In 2024, it was about 1.7-1.8 loans per customer.

In early June, it was reported that in 2024, the total profit of the Russian pawnshop market increased by 73 percent and reached 8.8 billion rubles. In total, in 2024, pawnshops issued loans to Russians for 302 billion rubles.
