OREANDA-NEWS  Recycling collection points risk to stop working in Russia if the rights to household garbage are fully transferred to a regional operator for the treatment of municipal solid waste (MSW). The fact that business was afraid of the possible closure of such points in the country, with reference to the document of the environmental association "Separate Collection" writes "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".

A bill was submitted to the State Duma giving regoperators ownership of household waste, including secondary resources that are collected at special accumulation sites. In the "Separate Collection", they oppose the initiative because of the infringement of the rights of business in the field of handling MSW and recyclables, processors and procureers due to it.

According to the chairman of the Board of the association Tatiana Nagorskaya, citizens will have the opportunity to hand over their sorted waste, but the document will give more chances to regoperators for a monopoly. She explained that with the adoption of the bill, the subjects of extended producer responsibility, who must legally dispose of the manufactured products, will not only collect the packaging, but also initially seem to own it. "The regoperator already has exclusive rights on the container site, which is why we do not develop separate accumulation," Nagorskaya added.
