OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the sidelines of the One Belt One Road forum.

According to Putin, over the past decades, relations between Russia and Hungary have been built "exclusively on the basis of taking into account the interests of each other, relying on all the positive things that we got from the past."

"This concerns a significant number of areas of activity, primarily the economy. Last year we had a significant increase in trade and economic cooperation. Over 80 percent. Unfortunately, this year we have seen a drop in the first seven months: minus 35 percent. This does not win back more than 80 (percent) of last year, thank God, but, nevertheless, there are grounds to think about what can be done additionally in order to influence this process in a positive way," Putin said.

"We know that our positions do not always coincide, but to be able to exchange views, in my opinion, is always extremely important," Putin said.
