OREANDA-NEWS There is a tendency among Russians to "optimize expenses" — now every fifth seeks to reduce their spending on essential goods, said Maxim Protasov, head of Roskachestvo. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Along with the number of Russians who have switched to economy, the number of those who pay great attention to the quality of products is also growing. Protasov also stressed that residents of the country have become more interested in Russian products, including in connection with the emergence of new brands.

In August, Romir researchers found that almost one in five Russians (19 percent) planned to start saving on food and essential goods. The most popular way to reduce costs, respondents called the purchase of goods with discounts or promotions. More than half of citizens go to stores with low prices and choose more affordable options, and also because of the need to save, they refuse certain categories of goods.
