OREANDA-NEWS  Taxi prices in Russia have approached 33 rubles per kilometer and may rise by another 30 percent by September. RBC writes about this with reference to industry representatives.

According to the company "Check Index" (analyzes data from more than a million online sales registers and expert partners), the average check for a taxi in Russia in the first half of 2023 reached 435 rubles, an increase of 4 percent year-on-year. At the same time, in Moscow, the average trip cost 771 rubles (plus 12 percent). The number of trips also increased — 189 million were made in the capital in six months (plus 7 percent by the first half of 2022).

Pavel Stennikov, a spokesman for the Maxim service, said that since the beginning of the year, the cost of a taxi ride has increased by about a quarter in the regions of Russia and by 40 percent in Moscow. The cost of transportation increases for the same reason that prices for other goods and services are rising, he explained — the consumer price index (the main indicator of inflation) increased in January-June by 5.55 percent compared to the same period last year.

The rise in the price of taxi services was also affected by the increase in car prices, Maxim added. Many foreign manufacturers refused to supply their products to Russia after February 2022, and local factories had difficulties with components for the same reason. At the same time, the service life of most taxi cars is coming to an end, since they were purchased by carrier companies even before the pandemic, Stennikov recalled.
